Equivalence of past and future
A long time ago, when I was alone in front of my parents' house, I held something in both hands and pointed it forward, but I let go of it and leaned my body to the side without my will, and a few milliseconds later a big moth flew out from behind me. It was night, so it was impossible to hear anything behind me, much less see it. This kind of thing may or may not happen when an inevitable crisis approaches for the person. It is said to be a premonition, or a latent precognitive ability that living things have, but when it comes to an extremely random event like a moth flying in from behind, it is strange.
I used to think that the past, present, and future are all memories, but if that's the case, then surely we have memories of the future as well as the past? Memories of anything other than the present are definitely vague. Just as it is said that we don't know what the future holds, even if we can trace what the past was through records of objects other than ourselves, our own memories will gradually become vague. Even if we have a clear record of what happened at that time, I think it's difficult to reliably record what we were thinking and feeling at that time.
We only have the present, and the moment we become aware of it, the present becomes the past. It's like the quantum observation problem. I think we're in an era where we need a new sense of the present within the whole of space-time.
