Tokyo Hyakki Yagyo 2025

The Kanto region's largest yokai parade brings together yokai from all over the country. On this day of the "Tokyo Hyakki Yagyo," the door to the underworld opens in Koenji, and demons and monsters run rampant. You can see yokai relaxing in cafes, eating on the go, and eating set meals - wherever you go, you'll be surrounded by yokai!

This year's event will be held on the same day as Koenji Festival, a large-scale event in Koenji. The event will be held on a date when the whole town is bustling with festivals! Also, the entire Koenji Look Shopping Arcade, the setting for the yokai, will be welcoming yokai again this year! It's fun to chat with the shops and townspeople! (And of course, don't forget to scare them!)

FAQ for Yokai Participants

Q.Are there any toilets?
A. They are located in various places in Look Shopping Arcade, and we also plan to publish a toilet map.

Q.How long does the queue take?
A. It is expected to take approximately one hour. Since it will be a long walk, if you are not feeling well, you may leave the procession.

Q. I don't know where the end of the procession is.
A. There is a special wrestling ring at the north exit of Koenji Station. There will be a Japanese drumming finale by Ryugu no Waka. It will be very crowded, but that is the finish line. Even if you get separated or drop off midway, you can still join in the finale as long as you gather there by 2:55 PM.

Q. Is it okay if I have difficulty walking while wearing a full-face mask or costume?
A. Yes, you can go at your own pace, but if you have poor eyesight and anticipate danger, please take precautions such as having someone to help you or asking someone nearby to help you.

Q. Will the road be closed on the day?
A. Traffic restrictions will be in place along the procession route on the day. However, there are still cases where vehicles accidentally enter the procession (as happened last year), so please cooperate by calling out to each other and letting vehicles pass.

Q.Where is the reception?
A. Changing rooms will be provided in the information email sent after October 19th. The reception desk will be located in the changing rooms. For those who will not be using the changing rooms, the reception desk will be located at the procession departure point, and we will also send you this information via email.

Q. Are there any rules for photographers to participate?
A. Freelance photographers do not need to take any special steps to participate. We cannot be held responsible for any issues that may arise with regular photographers. Please be aware that not only freelance photographers but also regular customers may take photos without permission.

Q. What should I do if I get injured or feel unwell?
A. Please call out to a nearby guidance staff member (wearing an armband) and seek temporary medical help at the nearest changing room, Koenji Look office, etc. We will also be setting up an open chat for Tokyo Hyakki Yagyo to share information, so please let us know there.

Q. Can I leave my luggage in the changing room?
A. Yes, you can leave your luggage there. There will be one person in each changing room watching over your luggage.

Q.Is it okay to bring small children?
A.Yes, but please make sure that a parent is nearby to assist you. Also, the fee is 1,000 yen for elementary school students and younger.

Q. Can I take photos anywhere?
A. Generally, photography is allowed throughout the Koenji Festival venue. However, please be careful not to take photos in front of shops or other places that may interfere with business.

Q: What if it rains?
A. The procession will proceed even if it is light rain, but may not take place in the event of severe weather. Please rest at the Yokai Welcome Store in Koenji or wait in the changing rooms. We will contact you via open chat when it is possible to meet again.

Q.What should I do when posting on social media?
