[Spoiler Alert] I went to see "Yokai Watch: King Enma and the Five Stories" with my 5-year-old and 2-year-old daughters.

2014 was the year when Yo-kai Watch became an explosive hit.
It was soon made into a movie, and I watched it with my daughter, who was 4 years old at the time.
I tried writing a review.

It appears to be structured as five short stories.
Throughout the story, the bond between monsters and humans is depicted little by little.
There are few jokes, but it's "touching"It is of the same ilk.
It seems like the first four episodes are foreshadowing the final episode.
However, perhaps because it was divided into five episodes, the first episode
It's short and the story develops very quickly.
It would have been fine to make it into a TV series.
I thought that if I didn't watch it continuously, my child wouldn't understand.
Dad was convinced of everything on his own.

It makes me cry

In fact, I was moved a few times.

Especially in the Jibanyan part

Even after death, the dog is desperately trying to help its owner

Emi noticed this.
Finally, they have an emotional reunion.

You know what...I'm weak to that kind of thing.
To be honest, my 5-year-old daughter wasn't impressed by this scene.
This is a story that will make adults giddy.

Even in the Koma-ka part, there were many scenes that made adults emotional.
Is this one for adults after all?
 

Are humans and monsters incompatible?

The sub-theme of this work is whether King Enma can coexist with humans and monsters.
In the previous four episodes, they have been testing human behavior and feelings in order to make a judgment.
Humans are foolish and incompatible, and are trying to cut off all ties with each other. "Nurarihyon"
I've included a picture from the Ukiyo-e period. It's completely different.

In my view, yokai represent lies, jealousy, resentment, pain, etc.
Considering that many monsters are born from the ugly hearts of humans,
Not only are they incompatible, but they are inseparable. Yokai cannot exist without humans.
It feels like humans and monsters are back to back.
In this work, the world of demons and the world of humans are clearly separated, which has broadened the worldview.
I thought so. I think Gegege no Kitaro also had an afterlife.
It's kind of unfair that humans can only live in the human world lol
