Lots of monsters! Learn from Pom Poko, the tale of the Tanuki Wars. The karma of humans.
I've watched Ghibli anime many times.
It comes in a respectable second in my top Ghibli movies (the first is Porco Rosso).
"Pom Poko: The Raccoon Wars"
This movie gets better with every viewing; it's like a movie that gets better with every viewing.
It's like a raccoon movie about environmental destruction.
If you felt that way, I highly recommend watching it again.
■What kind of movie is it?
Due to urban development in Tama New Town, raccoon dogs are losing their habitat to humans.
Even with the tanuki's supernatural powers, he cannot match the work of humans...
That's the synopsis, but...
■ Humans are scarier
When I first saw it, I thought, "Good luck to the tanuki! Poor thing!"
After watching it several times, I realized that I was watching it as if it were someone else's problem.
I began to feel an urgency that I had to do something.
Many years have passed since the film was made.
It wouldn't be surprising if we saw a second or third Tama New Town development.
A recent place that comes to mind is the bird and animal sanctuary at Kasai Rinkai Park.
Some parts will be cut out for the Olympics.
This arrogant behavior towards nature is still going on today.
I really think that people can change everything with just the tip of a pen through urban planning.
It's more monstrous than a monster.
It makes a lot of sense that more than half of the creators of yokai are humans.
■ It's not just someone else's problem
In one scene at the end of the movie
When the raccoon dogs recreated the original natural Tama Hills
The parents of these children say some pretty cruel things.
"Oh, the raccoon is still here."
The original inhabitants were raccoon dogs.
What was stolen was a human being. Parents tell their children this without any ill intent.
This is a child who is used to breaking things.
If you have children, consider this.
Both environmental destruction and our children are things that we have given birth to.
We have to take responsibility for making changes
We need to treat environmental issues with the same care as if they were children. No
That's it.
A comment from a recent seminar
"I don't need to pay for information on environmental issues"
This is all there is to it, the essence and current state of humanity today.
In reality, people buy them with money. I'm sure there are many people who paid to see this movie.
Including myself, the overwhelming majority of people who watched it because of the Ghibli movie brand
I once again thought of this movie as something for my child's future.
Try watching it with your children. You'll be impressed.
> Oops, there aren't many stories about monsters lol
Sorry for the late reply
Actually, the monsters that appeared in the Yokai Daisakusen scene were
The detail is pretty amazing.
The attention to detail is so great that even Bekkataro appears.
It was finished in a way that showed a great respect for Mizuki sensei.
(By the way, Bekataro is the one sticking his tongue out at the bottom.)
Both foxes and raccoon dogs are animals with many supernatural tales.
It is a symbol of nature itself.
It gives us a glimpse into how people in the past treated raccoons and foxes with great care.
Nowadays, symbols of respect for nature and the dignity of the Japanese culture are
